BOOK SWAP
For all you book lovers like me, check out PaperBack Swap. This is not a new idea since you may have been practicing this every time you gave or received a used book. This idea just takes the time out of finding the books you want to read at the second hand book stores.
So what does PaperBack Swap offer:
When you join as a free member you can swap, trade and exchange books with other members. You can only receive w book when you send one. You build up credit by sending a book and use the credit to receive books, you just pay for postage of the book you send. The club advertises that they also trade hardbacks, audio books and textbooks. Sadly for all you book lovers around the world this is only available if you live in the US or its territories. Never fear there are sites that service other countries and areas.
Enter BookMooch where members can send books worldwide. The founder John Buckman an avid reader who have lived in several areas of the world was frustrated that some books were only available in the US or the UK so he created this site for people like him around the world to have access to these books. This site opened in 2007 and has over 70,000 users in 91 countries.
There are other sites out there that you can access, however they are country specific:
- United Kingdom – Read It Swap It
- Germany – BokenRuilen (cannot read German so not able to tell you if it ships to other c
ountries)
- Germany – BookSwapper (only ships to German addresses)
- USA - Bookins, SwapTree, Frugal Reader, SwapSimple
- New Zealand – SwapClub
International – however allows users the option of whether they wish to ship internationally or not:
