BUDGET BABY

I recently read an article because of the tiltle “How to have a baby on a budget“. I am ntot pregnant nor consider havinga baby at this time. It caught my eye since a friend has recently had a baby and another will have a son in 2 months.

I first laughed at it since we all know that babies bring out the best in us and we open our wallets when it comes to buying gifts. Then I stopped and had a read of the article and thought it was too good to leave alone since the tips are just the things that the readers would lke to know.  Some of them we all may have done, some may be new.

So what did the article recommend.

  1. beg and borrow – we all keep the cute little things that Dan  or Susie may not have worn a lot and it stays in the closet for that day when we can pass it on to someone we know. Why not go one step further and offer to that expectant mother that you know in your community. Better, give it at the local centers for use rather than have it waiting for years
  2. buy the basics – since the gifts do come with the arrival of sweet Sally or dear Derek, why not wait to see what the friends will give
  3. swap – sometimes you may end up with a lot of one thing
  4. make your own baby food – will be tastier than the packaged stuff
  5. and many more.

So for all those first time expectant mums and dads…give the article a read so that you can think about your spending plan for the newborn.
