Today we live in the information age. Everywhere you go online and offline it is about how much you know and not how strong you are. Yes strength counts… strength of will, discipline. However, the strength of brute force is no longer required for a person to get ahead. So ask yourself these questions:

1. What do I know?
2. How much is my knowledge worth?
3. If I don’t know it, how can I learn it?

Now, that’s only part of the story of the technological age. Gone were the days where a person had one job or even one career as our parents or grandparents had. So you can expect to have a few jobs or even careers in your lifetime. I know people who got degrees in one area and are working in a completely different area today. I am sure that it is the same with someone that you know!

Your earning potential lies in your being able to market your best asset – YOU! So knowing that your future may be such that you will have a different job in the next few years, what can you do to make yourself marketable. The answer lies in your being able to learn and adapt to the changes quickly. In fact learning should be lifelong rather than ending when you finish school. Continual upgrading of skills can lead to monetary benefits in the future. You never know where and when you may need  any of the skills you have developed!
