MIND, MONEY AND MUSCLES

I love to read. It is one of my passions in life. So what does this have to do with money?

Well I was recently re-reading a motivational classic by Will George Jordan, The Kingship of Self-Control, when I was reminded that it is the litlle things that we do that reap us the greatest benfits.

Still not clear?

Well first I should give you the snippets of text that brightened the light bulb in my mind:

No man can make a habit in a moment or break it in a moment. It is a matter of development, of growth. But at any moment man may begin to make or begin to break any habit. This view of the growth of character should be a mighty stimulus to the man who sincerely desires and determines to live nearer to the limit of his possibilities.

What can we learn from this and apply to our financial lives…

Well it takes years for us to get into debt, how then do we expect to get out of it in a short while. It is most often as a result of our spending habits that we find ourselves in debt. Without changing those habits we cannot expect that we can move ahead and grow into wealth.

If we do find that we are earning more money, what usually happens is that we go back into a position of debt. Part of this cycle is due to what we think. We all know of the famous quote

As a man thinketh in his mind, so is he.

What does this mean for you?

Well the first think is to look at your habits surrounding your finances.

  • What are you spending your money on?
  • Are you spending rather than saving?
  • Do you have a budget?
  • Do you always need to be bailed out of situations?
  • Do you put off doing your taxes?

Soul searching will help you to find out why you are in the position in which you find yourself. The next step is to identify one habit that is hampering you financially and make a conscious effort to change it. Think 180 degree change!

Now it is known that it takes 21 – 28 days to make a habit. So it should take that amount of time to install a new more powerful one that can work for you. You need to be vigilant and practice every day your new habit or the rewards will not beĀ  manifested in your life.

Now for another snippet…

Nature has an installment plan for each individual. No man is so poor that he cannot begin to pay for what he wants from life. And every small, individual payment that he makes, Nature stores and accumulates for him as a reserve fund in his hour of need.

The patience man expends in bearing the little trials of his daily life, Nature stores for him as a wondrous reserve in a crisis of life. With Nature, the mental, the physical or the moral energy he expends daily in right-doing is all stored for him and transmuted into strength. Nature never accepts a cash payment in full for anything, this would be an injustice to the poor and to the weak. It is only the progressive, installment plan Nature recognizes.

So by taking time to apply the the building blocks to financial success can reap you the best of all rewards. When you decide where you want to be, you need to take those baby steps toward making the installment for success.

All the best.
